Bring it On

Date: March 10, 2011

Scriptures

1Kings 18:36-39

36 At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. 37 Answer me, LORD, answer me, so these people will know that you, LORD, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.”

38 Then the fire of the LORD fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.

39 When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The LORD—he is God! The LORD—he is God!”

Observation:

God is a "Bring it on God" He surely loves "Bring it On" challenges. We people has always the tendency to rely on our own strength, fix things out by our own capacity. We always consider God as our last resort. But God waits for the time that you will allow Him to prove Himself.

Elijah showed a remarkable act in this story. You see? He never hesitated going to the camp of the people who's hunting his life and even challenge them for a showdown. His act implies that his faith to God is higher and far bigger than his fear to what his enemy could possibly do to him once His God did not show up. But also His attitude implies this way: "God, my job is just to challenge a showdown for you, now it's your problem if you won't show up because this is your people whom you wanted to regain". Amazing!

Application:

Do not be afraid to give God a "bring it on" challenges, He wont turn it down surely. As what I learned from the Sun Stand Still Series, the new paradigm of sharing Jesus to people is to ask if they have problems -- yeah, big and impossible problems. And simply tell them to give it to God. In this way, you are passing the ball to God's hand -- "Lord, I've done my part, it's now time for you to "bring it on".
We need to realize, our job is not really to win people, it's God's. Our responsibility is to pray for them and take courage to share to them about Jesus and that's it. Knowing this, we will never own the glory if people whom we shared the gospel accepted Jesus in their hearts or the other way around, we will not blame ourselves and feel a failure if they did not.

Prayer:

O Lord, I really love your word. It excites my spirit. Help me to carry it always in my heart and my mind -- that You my God is a "Bring it on God". Nothing and no one is worth comparing to You. Knowing this, may i always take the courage to pray bring it on prayers Lord for your glory.

In Jesus Name.. amen
